RACE SERIES:
Senior Rotax - Superone plus various club races

My name is Max Chown.

I am 17 years of age and race in Rotax Max Seniors.

In December 2023 I was taken to an indoor karting track in Devon. Over the space of six months I ended up being one of the fastest drivers there winning multiple trophies. Because of my success at indoor karting my parents arranged for me to test a Junior Rotax race kart at a track called Clay Pigeon, I did this test with a race team in August 2023. The day went very well and at the end of the day my lap time was extremely good. It was apparently the fastest time of any first day driver they have ever had, some of which went on to compete and win in Europe.

After the success of my test day I joined a race team and applied for my Motorsport UK Karting Race License. I then completed five novice races to get my full interclub kart racing license. I finished my novice races in December 2023. I will be upgrading my race license at the end of this year to a full national kart license.

In 2024 I completed 12 races in Junior Rotax at various MSUK karting race weekends with all but two of these races at one race track. During the season I had lots of podiums and learnt lots about race craft and strategies.

In January this year I moved up into Senior Rotax. I started my winter testing in January and took instantly to the new more powerful senior engine and MOJO D5 race tyres. In my first race weekend in the senior class I took P2 with multiple purple laps and sectors throughout the day, more than anyone else! I took a P3 in my second senior race at a track called Shennington which I had never visited before.

The pace I had found in winter testing and during the start of the season persuaded me to enter a National Championship called Superone. This was a big step up from the club races I have been used to as a junior because the championship has a much higher level of drivers competing. It also included tracks that I have never been to until the weekend of the races. My hope was to finish in the top 10 overall and get awarded a seeded number for 2026. I didn’t know if this would actually be possible but I could only hope and do my best. The Superone season is now over and I have been on the podium multiple times and finished fifth overall in the championship.

It has been an amazing year and has shown that I am evolving as a driver and can now compete with the top drivers at tracks I have never been to before.

Next year I will be stepping up again and competing in The Ultimate Karting Championship. I will again set my goals and give it my all to achieve them.

You can view my Instagram account at: @maxchown76

You can email me at: maxchownracing@gmail.com

Kind regards,

Max.
